A friend suggested that we head for Kate’s Wine Bar in the historic Main Street shopping district of Littleton. I hadn’t been in before, and was not sure what to expect. From the outside, this small venue at 5671 South Nevada Street appears nondescript. However, as we entered I was immediately impressed. While my first instinct that the bar would be tiny was correct, the feeling of coziness quickly overtakes. Modeled after an English pub, the interior is a fresh white stucco with exposed beams, rich woods, leather and intimate lighting. I thought to myself, “if a woman wanted to design the perfect bar, this is it.”
Run by a mother/daughter team, Jayne Barth and Vanessa Menke, the service is prompt and friendly. Their ever changing wine selection is well conceived and they are happy to guide you. If wine is not your drink of choice, they also have the normal bar selection and several signature drinks. There is also a nice selection of simple bistro goodies ranging from brie to brownies.
Kate’s Wine Bar received several accolades in 2010, including a third place ranking on Channel 7′s Top 5 A-List.
