Denver is home to many beautiful parks and neighborhoods, but none can quite compare with the Denver homes in Washington Park. The 165-acre park was designed and opened in the early 1900’s. It boasts 54 flowerbeds, 2 lakes, a 2.6 mile jogging path, a fishing pond and a lake house. The two playgrounds are an oasis for area children and families picnicking. In-line skating, soccer games, dog walking and jogging are some of the popular activities seen within the park.
The neighborhoods surrounding Washington Park are some of Denver’s most popular. These areas are aptly named East Washington Park and West Washington Park. Families, urban professionals, and empty nesters all love living in the hip, upscale “Wash Park”. The culturally diverse neighborhoods are centrally located near Cherry Creek Mall, Denver Country Club, and Downtown Denver. Old South Gaylord is the quaint downtown area of the Washington Park neighborhood offering a variety of award-winning cuisine and eclectic shopping.
Architectural styles in the area consist of craftsman style bungalows, large Victorians, and stuccoed Tudors. The narrow streets are canopied with large trees, giving a sense of total seclusion from large front porches and well-manicured lawns.
Thanks to the recently completed TRex project along I-25, light rail is now a viable commuting option for Wash Park residents. The light rail station is within walking distance and provides easy access to downtown Denver and the southern suburbs.
The Washington Park neighborhood encompasses the park's borders, and stretches from Downing St. to University Blvd. The neighborhood is bounded by Cherry Creek Dr. to the north and I-25 to the south.
